Literacy in the Classroom
The road to literacy begins the day a child is born and continues as a child grows. Very early, children begin to learn about the sounds of spoken language when they are hearing, talking, laughing, singing, and as they respond to all the sounds that fill their world. They begin to understand written language when they hear stories read to them.
The Bovenschen speech department strives to provide an environment that not only supports emerging literacy skills but also engages students actively in practicing these skills.
